Did a course by Brandon Pham over at https://beta.gameschoolonline.com in order to finaly learn hard surface in Zbrush.
I was tasked to find a concept of a gun from a game I enjoyed, and that preferably never made it into the game. While the Bolt gun is in Alien: Isolation, I dont believe this particular version is.
The original concept was made by:

The whole thing took around 3 weeks, but most of that time was spent figuring out how to do things the Zbrush way, no easy task coming from someone wastly more comfortable in 3DS MAX.
Aimed to make it "game ready" and the end result weighs in at around 22k Verts and a single 4k texture set, which I guess is acceptable by todays standards.
The modeling process from base mesh to high poly was made in Zbrush, Retopo and UV in Max, Textures in Substance Painter and final renders in Marmoset Toolbag.
Special thanks goes to all the awesome people over at GSO that provideed invaluable feedback throughout the process. While the end result is far from perfect I truly learned alot!
